For the frst time, consumer goods (CG) manufacturers can implement a radio frequency identifcation (RFID) technology that was developed to meet their inventory and supply chain management needs, and to overcome limitations in previously available technology. The new UHF Generation 2 (Gen 2) standard from EPCglobal provides the worldwide compatibility, reliability, security and other features necessary to make RFID practical and effective for the CG supply chain. EPC standards were developed by users, for users and pave the way for development of competitive, interoperable products.
